ChatGPT models

Different ChatGPT pricing plans may give you access to different models, which have their own features and functions.

We’ve included some highlights in the table above, but there are many different ChatGPT models available, which may mean you need to do a bit of research to find the right one for you. Options available include²:

  • Reasoning models - the o-series models for complex, multi-step tasks
  • Flagship chat models - including GPT4.1 and GPT4o
  • Cost-optimized models - the mini and nano versions which cost less to run
  • Realtime models - capable of real time text and audio inputs and outputs
  • DALL·E - AI image models that can generate and edit images with prompts
  • Text to speech and transcription models
  • Moderation models - that detect whether input may be sensitive or unsafe.

What is the difference between the free ChatGPT and the paid versions?

ChatGPT Ireland offers a free to use plan, as well as 4 other paid plans which offer their own features and extended limits.

The ChatGPT subscription price can be set per user or per month, and means business owners can decide which service will most closely suit their specific needs and budget.

While the Free plan offers unlimited messages and interactions, and access to chat history, other features may have limits. You can access GPT-4o mini with no limits, but access to GPT-4o is limited and other models may not be available at all. Response times may be slow at peak times, and there are limitations on the features available.

If you’re looking for ChatGPT models pricing which gives access to the full suite of different models, you can upgrade to one of the plans with monthly fees. All offer some access to all available models, but there may still be some limits or fair usage rules depending on the plan you pick. Paid plans also have a faster response time, and additional features like deep research.

Which ChatGPT plan is right for my business?

If you’re picking a GhatGPT plan for your business, you’ll likely be looking for the Team or Enterprise plans. These offer business friendly features like a dedicated workspace, bulk member management, admin role assignments and unified billing.

The other ChatGPT plans are still an option if you’re a sole proprietor or simply looking to test out the usage of ChatGPT for your business, but you may need to trade up to get the full feature access for business customers.

What is the pricing currency of ChatGPT in Ireland?

ChatGPT Ireland is billed in US dollars (USD). If you select the Plus plan the costs are from 20 USD a month - remember to check out currency conversion to euros to understand what that cost might look like when billed to your Irish business.

How to pay for ChatGPT in Ireland?

You will usually pay for ChatGPT using a credit or debit card.³

Remember that you’ll be billed in US dollars - which may mean your card provider may add a foreign transaction fee. Foreign transaction fees don’t always apply, but where they do, they can add a percentage (usually around 2-3%) to the costs of every foreign currency transaction.

If you’d like to keep the costs down when paying for things in a foreign currency, consider getting a Wise Business card, which lets you hold and pay in USD conveniently, with no foreign transaction fee. More on that later.

How to save on your ChatGPT bill next month

ChatGPT has great potential to make doing business easier and more efficient - but it’s likely to come at a cost. Here are a few ways Irish businesses can optimise their ChatGPT spending:

  • Compare the different ChatGPT plans carefully to decide which suits you best
  • Audit your own and your teams’ usage of ChatGPT regularly - check that the features you’re paying for are being used, and if not, consider trading down to a cheaper account plan
  • Remember that you’ll be billed in USD - foreign transaction fees can increase your monthly ChatGPT bill and eat into your profits. Choose a card and multi-currency account from a provider like Wise Business to avoid unnecessary currency conversion costs.

Discover the benefits of paying for ChatGPT with the Wise business card

Avoid foreign transaction fees and pay for your ChatGPT subscription directly in dollars using the Wise Business card.

Wise lets you hold 40+ currencies in the Wise Business account, including EUR and USD. Since the account offers a connected debit card, you can pay for SaaS subscriptions with your card in the currency you’re billed in, and there’s no foreign transaction fee to pay.

For example: Add money to your Wise Account in Euros, and convert to US dollars. Wise will use the mid-market exchange rate (the same you normally see on Google) and low conversion fees. After having USD in your account, it's then free to spend the currency, making it simple and efficient to cover your foreign currency spending.
