Read on for everything you need to know about sending and receiving international wire transfers with Alipay.
Revolut is a digital banking app that lets you send money internationally to over 140 countries from the US. You can use it to send both small and large amounts of money in USD or 25+ other currencies.¹
However, there are certain nuances and fees that you should be aware of when sending money abroad. Here's everything you need to know about Revolut international transfers.
We'll also introduce Wise — your international money transfer alternative. Use Wise to send stress-free transfers to over 140 countries - all at the standard mid-market exchange rate.
Yes, Revolut is fully available in the US. It's a British fintech company, but US users can enjoy virtually all its features and functions, including Revolut money transfers to over 140 countries.¹
Revolut also allows non-US citizens to open an account as long as they’re legally residing in the US. You don't need an SSN or ITIN. You can sign up with just a government-issued ID and a valid US visa.¹
This makes Revolut a good option for international students and H1B professionals.
Yes, you can make an international wire transfer with Revolut.
In fact, there are 4 different ways to send money internationally with the platform:¹
Bank transfer: Transfer money to a bank account in 140+ supported countries by entering your recipient's account number, BIC/SWIFT code, and a few other details. This option resembles a SWIFT code wire transfer you typically have at your bank
Revolut-to-Revolut transfer: Send money to other Revolut users in 25+ currencies with no transfer fees. This is the fastest and cheapest option if your recipient also has a Revolut account
Payment link: Create a payment link to send or receive money. You select the payment method (bank transfer, credit card, or Revolut balance), and your recipient simply clicks the link to complete the transaction
Groups: Use this money transfer feature to split expenses with other Revolut users
You're not limited to just one of these options and can mix and match them depending on the type of transfer that you need to make.
Revolut sometimes charges international wire transfer fees. How much depends on your transfer method:
For bank transfers to non-Revolut accounts, you'll pay either up to 5% of the transaction amount or a fixed fee of up to 10 USD (whichever is greater)²
For Revolut-to-Revolut transfers, there are no international transfer fees¹
Revolut also warns their users that external or intermediary banks may charge their own fees, which Revolut doesn't control and can't predict.¹
So, while the app will always show the exact Revolut fees before you confirm any transfer, you may lose some money as it travels to your recipient.
In addition to the Revolut international transfer fee, you should also watch out for the currency exchange rate.
Like most financial institutions, Revolut sets their own exchange rates that include a markup over the mid-market rate.¹ For example, if the mid-market rate for USD to EUR is 0.92, Revolut might offer you 0.89 and pocket the difference.
Intermediary banks may also apply their conversion rates if they handle your money during the transfer. This will likely reduce the final amount your recipient gets.
The app displays the exchange rate you'll receive before you confirm your transaction. Compare this exchange rate with other providers to find the best deal.

- Add funds into your Revolut account from your bank or card
- Choose your transfer method, destination country, currency, and the amount you want to send
- Review fees and exchange rates
- Enter your recipient's information

You can then track your international wire transfer directly in the app.
The information you'll need to provide depends on your transfer method.
You'll need the most information for an international bank transfer. Revolut-to-Revolut transfers and payment links require minimal details about your recipient — typically just their email address or phone number.
Method | Required information¹ |
---|---|
Bank transfer |
|
Revolut-to-Revolut | Choose your recipient from your contacts list or find them using their email, phone number, Revtag, or QR code |
Payment link | Recipient's phone number or email address (even if the recipient doesn't have Revolut) |
You may need to submit additional details for bank transfers depending on the destination country and currency. The Revolut app will prompt you for all necessary information during the transfer setup process.
Revolut international transfer time depends on how you send your money and in which currency.
Most international bank transfers from the US take 3 to 5 business days. However, sometimes intermediary banks involved in the transaction can cause delays outside Revolut's control.¹
Revolut-to-Revolut transfers are nearly instant and typically arrive in under 20 seconds.¹
Before confirming any transfer, Revolut shows you an estimated delivery time in the app.
For most currencies and countries, there are no preset maximum amounts you can send. If there are any transfer limits, they're typically set by Revolut's payment partners, not by Revolut itself.
The app will show you any applicable limits before you confirm your transfer.
Revolut explicitly specifies that you can use the app to make large transfers, such as paying your college tuition, but they may need to go through additional security checks due to international wire transfer regulations. This means your money might take longer to arrive.¹
If you have questions about international transfers or need assistance with a specific transaction, the fastest way to reach Revolut is through the app's built-in chat.¹
Revolut's team can assist you in over 100 languages. To access support:
- Open the Revolut app
- Tap on your Profile (the circle icon in the top-left corner)
- Select Help and then Get more help
- Choose the relevant topic to start chatting with a support agent
You can also browse Revolut's help center for common FAQs and international wire transfer instructions.
You can send money internationally with Revolut, but watch out for transfer fees and currency exchange rate markups. It's a good idea to compare multiple providers to see which one will get you the best deal on your transfer.
To send money internationally with low fees and no exchange rate markups, use Wise.
