Sending money from Revolut to Wise in Ireland: Fees and transfer times

If you use both Wise and Revolut in Ireland, you may be wondering - can you transfer from Revolut to Wise, to top up your balance or make a payment?

Can you transfer money from Revolut to Wise as an Irish customer?

Yes. You can transfer money from your Irish Revolut account to Wise in several different ways, including:

  • Making a payment to Wise local account details
  • Sending money to the Wise card
  • Topping up a Wise Account with a Revolut card.

There are a few different ways to transfer money from Revolut to Wise, including transfers you initiate through Revolut, and Wise top ups, which you’ll set up from the Wise app. Let’s take a look at the key options for sending money from Revolut to Wise in Ireland.

Send money from Revolut to Wise using local account details

Your Wise Account has local account details for several different currencies, including EUR.

You can use these local account details to receive money from the Revolut account to the Wise account. If the payment is set up as a local transfer there’s no Wise fee to receive money, and Revolut won’t charge you for this either.¹

If currency conversion is needed Revolut may have a fee, depending on the type of account you have, and if the payment is delivered through SWIFT Wise may charge a small fee too.

Here's how you can set up your transfer in the Revolut app by taking the following steps²:

  1. Log into the Revolut app and go to 'Payments'
  2. Tap the plus symbol in the top-right corner
  3. Select 'Bank recipient' and enter the required details, filling the Wise account information
  4. Enter the amount and currency to transfer and confirm.

You should see an estimated time of arrival of your transfer before you complete the transaction.

How to get Wise local account details

Here’s how to get the local account information from Wise, to receive a payment for free:

  1. Log into the Wise app and tap the currency balance you want to receive into
  2. Click on the IBAN symbol below the currency amount
  3. Check the the Wise account details
  4. Share or use these Wise account details to set up the transfer from Revolut.

Send money from Revolut to a Wise card

You can also make a payment from Revolut to a card, including the Wise card. In this case a fee will apply which you are shown in the Revolut app when you set up the payment.

Fees for transfers in Ireland and within the SEPA area are 0.7% (or €0.20 - whichever is higher), while payments elsewhere can run from 1% to 2.3% depending on the country involved.³

Here’s how to transfer money from Revolut to a Wise card:

  1. Log into the Revolut app and go to 'Payments'
  2. Tap 'New' and then 'Card recipient'
  3. Enter the 16-digit Wise card number
  4. Enter the amount and currency, and confirm.

In this case, the Revolut to Wise card transfer time is usually instant or within 30 minutes.

Top up Wise using Revolut

Your final option to transfer money from Revolut to Wise is to top up your Wise account and then choose your Revolut card as the payment method.

Wise charges a small, variable fee for some top up methods, which you’ll be shown in the Wise app before you confirm your payment. To top up Wise from Revolut follow these steps:

  1. Log into the Wise app and tap ‘Add money’
  2. Enter the amount and currency and select debit card as the payment method
  3. Follow the prompts to pay with your Revolut card.

What are the Revolut to Wise transfer fees?

The Revolut to Wise transfer fees depend on the payment type you select. Sending a payment from Revolut in Euros, to be received in your Wise account in Euros using local account details is free. There are no fees from either Revolut or Wise.

You can also send money from Revolut to your Wise card, which does mean paying a Revolut fee which depends on the value of the transfer. You’ll see this fee in the app before you confirm your payment.

Another option is to top up Wise using your Revolut card. This does incur a variable Wise fee, which you’ll see before you transact.

Bear in mind that currency conversion costs may apply depending on how you set up your payment. If you’re sending euros and receiving euros this won’t be the case - but if you need to switch currencies at any point in the transaction, either Wise or Revolut may charge you, depending on how you set up the transfer. Both providers show you their costs up front so you can check before you hit send.
