How to cancel Qatar Airways flights - is it possible?

Yes, you can cancel a flight with Qatar Airways. There are a few different ways you can do it - online, via the airline’s mobile app or by contacting customer services.

To do it online, follow these steps

  1. Go to the Manage My Booking page
  2. Enter your Booking reference (PNR) or E-ticket number and the last name of the lead passenger to retrieve your booking
  3. Alternatively, you can login to your Qatar Airways account to retrieve your booking
  4. Edit your booking and confirm the changes.

You can also download and login to the Qatar Airways mobile app to make changes to your booking. Or if you prefer to speak to someone, you can call +44 330 912 7415 or use Live Chat

Bear in mind that there may be cancellation fees to pay, depending on your ticket type. The same goes for refunds, which depend on whether you’ve booked a refundable ticket.

What to do if you make a mistake when booking Qatar Airways flights?

Like some other airlines, Qatar Airways offers a 24 hour cooling off period on flight bookings, except for ‘Lite’ fares. This lets you cancel flights free of charge within 24 hours of booking if you change your mind or have made a mistake.³

Alternatively, you can also use the Manage My Booking page to amend your booking, just in case you’ve mixed your dates up or entered a passenger name incorrectly.

Will you get a refund for cancelling your Qatar Airways flight?

Qatar Airways does offer refunds for unused tickets when passengers cancel their bookings, but it will all depend on your ticket type

So, you’ll need to check your booking confirmation details, or get in touch with the airline. You should also be able to see whether or not you’re due a refund when you login to Manage My Booking on the Qatar Airways website and start cancelling your booking.

If you’re a Platinum or Gold member of the Qatar Airways privilege club, you should be able to get a refund (and avoid cancellation fees) for cancelling a flight all the way up to three hours before departure.⁴

What’s the Qatar Airways flight cancellation policy?

So, what happens if Qatar Airways cancels a flight, rather than you making the decision to cancel?

If the airline cancels your flight, the Qatar Airways flight cancellation policy states it will do one of the following:⁵

  • Carry you on another Qatar Airways scheduled service, wherever there is space available
  • Reroute you to your final destination free of charge via another means, such as a flight with another airline or another form of transport such as road or rail.
  • Give you a full refund for your cancelled flights and no onward travel provided.
