Angel Chan

We have some exciting news to share with you - sending money from HKD via bank transfer to our new bank account can now be instant! Yes, you read that right, remittances can be as quick as sending an email.

So, what does this “instant” really mean?

Most banks in Hong Kong should now process your HKD transfers to Wise’s new bank account instantly*. As soon as we receive your money via bank transfer, we will convert it into your selected currency and send it to your recipient.

The speed of your remittance can also be influenced by the currency you're sending to. When you're sending to certain currencies, such as GBP, CNY, and THB, recipients can receive your money instantly, that’s within 20 seconds. In fact, your payments could even arrive before you've even had a chance to notify your recipient!

How to make your transfer from HKD instant?

  1. Create a transfer like normal
  2. Select 'bank transfer' as the payment method
Tip: If you've previously added our old bank account as a recipient in your bank, you have to update the bank account details in order to enjoy the instant payments.
