Information technology (IT) media company TechTarget and Altiris (Nasdaq: ATRS), a pioneer of IT lifecycle management solutions, announced today that TechTarget has acquired myITForum.com from Altiris. myITforum.com is the premier independent online destination for IT professionals who manage their corporations’ Windows systems and the number-one site for information on Systems Management Server (SMS), a Microsoft change and configuration management solution. TechTarget will add myITforum to its network of Web sites serving specific sectors of the IT market. myITforum.com will complement other TechTarget sites focused on Windows in the enterprise, including SearchExchange.com, LabMice.com, and its flagship Windows site, SearchWin2000.com.

The centerpiece of myITforum.com is a collection of more than 60 forums where IT professionals share expertise and exchange technical tips on a wide range of topics related to Windows systems management, from security to patch management and Microsoft SMS. The forums attract an average of 4500 new forum postings each month and drive traffic to other sections of the site. In addition to the forums, myITforum.com provides downloadable utilities, links to related resources from around the Web, news coverage, and thousands of pages of technical articles and tips authored by experts and member-contributors.

“myITforum.com has developed a loyal following of IT professionals who actively use the site to learn about managing Windows assets,” said Poul Nielsen, vice president of marketing and product strategy at Altiris. “This community, and the site’s rich content, makes myITforum.com an invaluable vehicle for Altiris and other IT companies, allowing us to reach IT professionals as they research solutions to Windows management challenges. We’re pleased that TechTarget is adding myITforum.com to its strong portfolio of Web sites. We look forward to seeing them further develop myITforum.com as the premier resource for IT professionals and advertisers alike.”

“The acquisition of myITforum.com enables TechTarget to expand the range of offerings for one of our fast-growing advertiser bases: IT marketers looking to reach targeted, highly qualified audiences of Windows systems managers,” said TechTarget CEO Greg Strakosch. “Like other TechTarget acquisitions, this purchase allows us to satisfy strong demand for media vehicles that allow our advertisers to place their marketing messages in front of IT pros who are actively interested in the products and services that help them better manage their Windows environments.”

Microsoft SMS Expert and Site Founder Rod Trent to Become Editor of myITforum.com and Communities Editor for TechTarget’s Web Sites Site founder Rod Trent will continue to manage myITforum.com as editor, and will work to further develop the site’s active online community.
